About us

Having a safe place to adopt out foster is key to a foster home base rescue.

When safe places become next to nothing, we have to adjust and find our own space. I am the Executive Director of Piper’s Palace and a board member of Kittens in the Mitten and noticed within the last few years that less and less companies wanted to help us house and adopt out our fosters. We couldn’t afford a shelter like lots of rescues have because the price of land and building materials. The lounge was the next best way to raise funds and awareness.

We have internet so please bring your laptop, iPad, or tablet. If you work from home and can’t have animals you can work at the lounge and have 15-20 cats to help. We have snacks and drinks for a $1 donation (helps feed and get litter for the cats in the lounge).

About me: I was born in Petoskey, Michigan and graduated in 2004. I first started my love of animal working at our local humane society. That is where I adopted my first dog, Bubba. He was 7 weeks old when transferred from another humane society 2008. He wasn’t my first pet though. I adopted a Ruby eyed New England dwarf rabbit in 2001 from a local breeder. He was potty trained and lived in the whole house! When Bubba and I moved to the Grand Rapids in 2009 so I could go back to school, I didn’t imagine we would stay. We moved to Holland in 2013 and shortly moved into a home in Zeeland. In 2024 I married my boyfriend of 11 years. In 2019 I started Piper’s Palace because our cat, Piper, passed away very suddenly. Bubba was so excited to have other cats in the house. We now have 12 plus another dog, Bentley. In July of 2025 we opened Lazy Cat Lounge and Consignment Shop so we could continue to save lives.
